PRESS RELEASE
Occurring every five years, the British Art Show is the most ambitious survey of new and recent developments in art from the UK. Curated by Alex Farquharson and Andrea Schlieker, the exhibition includes sculpture, painting, film, performance and public projects by 50 artists and artists’ groups.
British Art Show 6 highlights a number of current tendencies: artists who freely mix art historical influences from nineteenth and twentieth century avant-gardes; film and video works engaging with issues of geo-politics and migration; and public art made in collaboration with communities and organisations outside the gallery. Some artists work across a range of disciplines combining painting, sculpture, video and performance. References to architecture, the urban environment, landscape and ecology are equally prevalent.
British Art Show 6 takes place in Manchester across venues including Cornerhouse,Castlefield Gallery, Chinese Arts Centre, Manchester Art Gallery, The international 3, Urbis and Whitworth Art Gallery.
At The International 3 Juneau Projects will present a solo exhibition.
Organised by Hayward Gallery. Presented in association with Baltic Centre for Contemporary Art and galleries across the cities of Manchester, Nottingham and Bristol.
