PRESS RELEASE
Rachel Goodyear’s 3rd solo show at The International 3, reveals significant developments within the artist’s work. Using materials and mediums that are new to the artist’s practice, Artificial Night continues the exploration and expansion of Goodyear’s curious drawn world. Valley, one of Goodyear’s largest works to date takes centre stage. This two metre triptych debuts the artist’s expanded use of collage, presenting a theatrical scene of dance, deception, death and rebirth. Elsewhere a small flock of porcelain birds lay on their backs like museum pieces. As if a state of transition, growth like structures rendered in bronze; (a new material within the artists’ practice), emerge from their bodies.
A new limited edition print by Rachel Goodyear will also accompany the exhibition (see image) Fiddler, 2013. A3, Edition of 30 (+ 4 artists proofs). Pigment inkjet on archival quality (acid, oba & lignin free, natural white) 315gsm 100% cotton rag paper. Signed and numbered. £100 (unframed) +P&P. Framing can be arranged at an additional cost.
